Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora can lay the groundwork in order to relaunch the franchise before new movies release, but you have to be careful.
Whenever Avatar: Pandora’s Borders finally launched, the game will have a heavy weight on its shoulders. On the one hand, it will be the first entry in the series for over a decade. This means that the game will have to work to revive interest in the franchise. There is a very real chance that the people behind this game, as well as the upcoming one Avatar movies, hope Pandora Borders can bridge the gap.
In order to bridge this gap, the next Ubisoft title will have to thread a needle. One of the most interesting aspects of the film was how it pushed a story of tragic colonialism and the indiscriminate murder of indigenous peoples. While this is obviously intentional and the moral of this story is very clear about the harms of this particular approach, it is still a touchy subject. Yes Avatar: Pandora’s Borders wants to have real success, we will have to find a way to manage this aspect correctly. It’s not a particularly easy thing to do, especially for Ubisoft.
Frontiers of Pandora may reinvigorate the Avatar franchise
If Ubisoft can figure out a way to thread that needle, there’s a good chance this game will indeed make the Avatar popular franchise again. The situation around this title is almost unprecedented. Pandora Borders does not pick up a long dormant but very popular video game series. It’s basically trying to pick up where the last Avatar movie left out, which is perfect for diehard moviegoers, but there’s really no video game imprint to go with it. Avatar. Usually, in this area, the film is supposed to rekindle interest in a video game, and not the other way around. Pandora Borders Apparently looking to set the stage for future James Cameron films.
When we talk about threading that particular needle, it is going to be important to Pandora Borders to chart its own course. It will be much easier to start with a clean slate than trying to continue the previous story, whether in the movie or the 2009 film. Avatar adaptation of video games. Staying away from these particular stories gives developers a bit more leeway.
The point is, there isn’t a ton of known about Pandora Borders except for the moment it is very pretty. Perhaps the focus of this game will be more on how the Na’vi live and blend in with their world. Perhaps less attention will be paid to how the indigenous population confronts the invading forces. Although it also seems to ignore the purpose of the original game.
The big question is how well Ubisoft sticks to what has apparently been its mantra over the past few years. Even when the company releases games that seem to have obvious political aspects like Far cry 5 Where Far cry 6, leaders tend to pretend that there is no political pressure. When we talk about the underlying message of Avatar: Pandora’s Borders, pretending that there is no politics involved is going to be even more difficult to manage. The company should be addressing the liberating aspect of most gamers knowing this story is meant to make a statement. They just need to look at it the right way, but we’ll see if they can accomplish that next year.
Avatar: Pandora’s Borders is slated for release in 2022 on Amazon Luna, Google Stadia, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X / S.
